5 Types of Content You Should Weave Into Your 2019 Social Media Plan

2019 is right around the corner.  Hopefully, you are planning out your social media content for the upcoming year.  As you are planning your content for 2019, there are certain types of content you will need to help make your social media accounts relevant, valuable, and growing throughout the year.  Through this post, I will share with you 5 types of content you should weave into your 2019 social media plan to help you achieve these goals.

 

Education

This is probably one of the most valuable pieces of content you can put out on your social media feeds.  People flock to accounts that teach their audiences how to do something. Whenever you have the ability to teach someone to do something, you are addressing a pain point and solving a problem, making their life just a little easier.  Think about your business for a moment. What can you teach someone? A technique, how to use your product most effectively, share a strategy, or a tip? Each of those things can be broken down into social media posts or “micro-blogs.”  Brainstorm as many ideas as possible and keep them in a list. When planning out your posts each week, refer the list for post ideas.

 

Thought Leadership

Use your social media accounts to establish yourself as a thought leader in your field.  Someone who is known as the “go-to” person, an expert, and someone who has a wealth of knowledge and opinions about a particular industry or niche.

 

Relationship Building

Social media is more about relationships than anything else.  Create posts that encourage conversation and idea exchanges. The people you meet through social media will become your digital network.  The more people you know, communicate with, help, etc. the more your brand will be known.

 

Customer Loyalty

Besides learning from you, another BIG reason people follow brands online is because of customer loyalty programs.  Many brands reward their online audiences for following them on social media platforms. Rewards can come in many forms such as:  online coupons, free downloadables, and special offers and deals. Rewarding an online audience not only encourages customer loyalty but it also builds trust.  Think of ways you can reward your digital audience and customers. What types of freebies, coupons, and downloads can you start offering in 2019?

 

Audience Engagement

Engagement is social media gold.  If you have an engaged audience, you have an audience who is picking up what you are putting down!  To get your audience to be more engaged, create posts and content that:

  • Ask for feedback – don’t be afraid to ask your audience what their opinion is, what they want more of, and what they find helpful
  • Are relatable – when you can be authentic and share your experiences, your audience will respond and relate better to you. The more you can share about what makes you, you, your audience will look for things they have in common with you.  The more they find they have in common with you, the more engaged they will become.
  • Have a strong call to action (CTA)
  • Are funny.  Everyone likes a good laugh or to be entertained.  What can you share that will brighten someone’s day?

 

Many (if not all) of these content types can be brainstormed and kept in a databank for you to pull from to use throughout your overall social media marketing plan.
