3 Things You Can Do To Gain MORE Control Over Your Facebook News Feed

Ever since Facebook changed its algorithm during the beginning of 2018, people have been not only confused but frustrated with the posts that have been showing up in their personal news feed.  Good news! There are a couple of things you can do to gain MORE control over what you see in your Facebook feed. Learn 3 Things You Can Do To Gain MORE Control Over Your Facebook News Feed.

Create Lists

I love this feature on Facebook.  You can actually organize your Facebook friends into custom lists that YOU create!

For example, let’s say you wanted to stay on top of happenings and news from friends in different aspects of your life.  The way that Facebook’s news feed works right now makes it difficult to see all of the posts your friends and family in one feed.  Using lists helps you to segment and categorize your Facebook contacts. Some example of lists I have created are:

– Family

– Networking

– College Friends

– High School Friends

– Neighbors

Having these friend lists in place make it really easy for me to keep up to date with everyone.  When I want to see news and information that my family has posts, I can toggle over to my “Family List” and all of their posts are in one convenient spot and never miss a thing!

To find the “Friends” list option, look in the left side panel under the “Explore” heading. Once you tap into your “Friends” list option, you will notice that Facebook may have set up some categories for you.  You can edit the people you find in these preset categories.

See Posts First

Did you know?  You can tag certain people’s posts to show up in your news feed before anyone else.  You may select up to 30 friends or pages to “see first.” To turn this function on for 30 of your favorite people, follow these steps:

– Click the down arrow at the top right of any Facebook page you may be on

– Select “New feed preferences”

– Select “Prioritize who to see first”

– Click on the tile image of the person or business page you want to ensure shows up in your newsfeed each time you post

Unfollow People

Sometimes you may not want to see content that people post but you want to still remain friends on Facebook.  You can easily stop seeing people’s posts that clog your newsfeed by following these steps:

– Click the down arrow at the top right of any Facebook page you may be on

– Select “Unfollow people”

– Click on the tile image of the person or business page you want to stop following but still remain, friends

With these three Facebook options in place, you will begin to see more of what you want to see on a regular basis!  Enjoy!
